The Newton’s Nook Designs Design Team is kicking off this Valentine’s Day and love themed release with the most adorable Puppy Heart Stamp Set that comes with the coordinating Puppy Heart Die Set. Plus there’re two new matching paper pads filled with lovely colors and wonderful patterns: Love & Woofs Paper Pad and Love & Chocolate Paper Pad.
Giveaway alert!! NND is giving away new Puppy Heart stamp set to a lucky winner so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!
On my stop of this hop you will find two cute cards: both with fun layouts made from the new pattern paper! I used different color media and get a bit creative by inking and overlapping different designs on top of the pattern paper!
Key Ingredients:
- Puppy Heart Stamp Set
- Puppy Heart Die Set
- Love & Woofs Paper Pad
- Heart Frames Die Set
- Petite Paw Prints Stencil
Step By Step Instructions:
- Die cut from Strathmore Bristol paper all the elements you need, using the coordinating Puppy Heart Die Set and Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
- Stamp the outline illustration from Puppy Heart Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink, using the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
DESIGNER’S TIP: Please, note that I recommend to stamp the sentiment after coloring to ensure black bold and crisp outlines.
- Color the stamps with water based markers. On this card I used ZIG CLEAN COLOUR REAL BRUSH MARKERS:
- 020 Red
- 023 Scarlet Red
- 029 Geranium Red
- 060 Brown
- 061 Light Brown
- 073 Vanilla
- 901 Warm Gray 2
- Stamp the sentiment in the center of the heart.
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
- Trim a 2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of bone pattern paper.
- Die cut a half heart toward the center of the pattern piece, using Heart Frames Die Set.
- Ink it with Hickory Smoke Distress ink, using a blending brush to soften the pattern.
- Glue the pattern paper to the card base.
- Secure Petite Paw Prints Stencil with a low tack tape on the background and spread a white embossing paste from top left and bottom right corners. Carefully lift up the stencil and let the embossing paste air dry.
- Die cut a half heart with a red stipe pattern, using again Heart Frames Die Set.
- Arrange and glue in place all the elements on the card base, by popping some on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look.
Key Ingredients:
- Love & Chocolate Stamp Set
- Lovely Blooms Stamp Set
- Lovely Blooms Die Set
- Love & Chocolate Paper Pad
- A7 Frames & Banners Die Set
Step By Step Instructions:
- Die cut from Neenah Solar White paper three jars, using the coordinating Lovely Blooms Die Set and Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
- Stamp the outline illustration from Lovely Blooms Stamp Set and Love & Chocolate Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, using the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
- Don’t forget to make a mask for each chocolate piece to create an overlapping look. Stamp each chocolate illustration on a masking paper and then fussy cut them with the sharp small scissors right agains the stamp outlines. You need only one mask per pattern. In every jar stamp the the front chocolate first, mask it and then add the chocolate behind. Lift up the mask and repeat the same process to fill all the jars.
DESIGNER’S TIP: Please, note that I purposely fussy cut the strawberries with the sharp small scissors right agains the stamp lines and then paint the edges with a black brush tip markers to hide any imperfection due to the fussy cutting in order to match the masked illustrations inside the jars. However, you can use the coordinating Love & Chocolate Die Set if you don’t like fussy cutting or want to save time.
- Color the stamps with COPIC MARKERS. I used on this card:
- brown #1 E21-E23-E25-E27
- brown #2 E30-E31-E35-E39
- pink #1 RV000-RV10-Rv11-RV13-RV14
- pink #2 RV21-RV23-RV25-RV29-R39
- pink #3 RV000-RV63-RV55
- green YG00-YG01-YG05
- jar BG0000-BG10-BG11
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
- Die cut three stitched rectangles from Love & Chocolate Paper Pad, using A7 Frames & Banners Die Set.
- Heat emboss in white onto black the “Chocolate” sentiment from Love & Chocolate Stamp Set. Don’t forget to prep the paper with a Powder Tool Applicator to prevent the embossing powder to stick where you don’t want it!
- Fussy cut the sentiment with the sharp small scissors, leaving a little edge around.
- Stamp the second part of the sentiment directly on the card front with with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
- Wrap a craft twine around the jars and and tie a bow.
- Arrange and glue in place all the elements on the card base, by popping some on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look.
- Finish with a generous coat of a clear glitter pen, a few highlights added with a white gel pen and some sequins from Pink Fizz Sparkle Embellishment Mix adhered with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
