Newton’s Nook Designs June Release and Giveaway – Day 3 – Kitten Beach and Beach Barks

Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the Newton’s Nook June release! Thanks so much for joining me today! I’m so excited to share with you new wonderful summer themed products!

The third day of the summer release is filled with super cute and just adorable beach characters from Kitten Beach Stamp and Beach Barks Stamp sets. And as always both new sets come with the coordinating Kitten Beach Die and Beach Barks Die sets. If you are a fan of everything cute or just fond of sweet critters, you cannot escape by adding these cuties to your summer collection!

Well, today on my stop of this hop you will find a light and airy beach scene featuring the playful kitties from Kitten Beach Stamp Set. I will be honest, it was pretty hard to stop adding colors at some point and leave the first card with almost transparent watercolor look! This design is definitely out of my comfort zone, but it was on my mind for so long and just cannot help give it a try! Creating the beach scene on my second card, I used just release yesterday Retro Sun & Palms Stencil. This new stencil set comes as two layers design and was so easy and fun to ink with different colors.

Key Ingredients:

• Kitten Beach Stamp Set
• Kitten Beach Die Set
• Land Borders Die Set
• Sky Border Die Set
• Sky Scene Builder Die Set

Step By Step Instructions:

• Die cut from Strathmore Bristol paper all the elements you need for the beach scene, using the coordinating Kitten Beach Die Set. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
• Stamp the outline illustrations from Kitten Beach Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink. Use the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
• Color the stamps with water based markers, making the blending with a water brush. I used on this card:
  • TOMBOW DUAL BRUSH MARKERS
  • N65, 025, 090, 491, 723, 772, 905, 925, 992
  • ZIG CLEAN COLOR REAL BRUSH MARKERS
  • n.41 Light Green, n.45 Pale Green, n.63 Ochre
• Add the tone on tone dots on the bucket with copic marker B00.
• Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
• Stamp the sentiment inside, using  VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink.
• Die cut from a Bristol paper the beach scene elements, using Land Borders Die Set, Sky Border Die Set and Sky Scene Builder Die Set.
• Ink the scene dies with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide, Mustard Seeds Distress and Memento Desert Sand dye inks.
• Flick some tiny droplets, using a clear shimmer spray and colorful inks to add more interest.
• Arrange all the elements on the card front and glue them in place by popping some on a foam tape for fun dimensional look.
• Finish with a couple of highlights added with a white gel pen.

• Beach Barks Die Set
• Retro Sun & Palms Stencil
• Frames & Flags Die Set
• Hills & Grass Stencil

Step By Step Instructions:

• Die cut from Neenah Solar White paper the doggies, using the coordinating Beach Barks Die Set. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
• Stamp the outline illustration from Beach Barks Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Use the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
• Color the stamps with COPIC MARKERS. I used on this card:
  • dog #1 E0000-E30-E31-E33-E35-E37
  • dog #2 W00-W1-W3-W5-W7
  • pink RV0000-RV10-RV21-RV23-RV25
  • violet V0000-V01-V12-V15-V09
  • green YG11-YG07-YG09
  • teal BG000-BG02-BG05-BG07
  • yellow Y0000-Y11-Y18
  • black 100
• Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
• Trim another 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ rectangle from a Bristol paper for the background piece.
• Tape Hills & Grass Stencil with a removable tape to prevent any movement and ink the sand hill with Memento Desert Sand dye ink.
• Trace the hill line on a masking paper, using the edge of Hills & Grass Stencil as a guide; fussy cut it with scissors and apply on the inked sand hill.
• Tape layer #1 from Retro Sun & Palms Stencil with a removable tape and ink the Sun with Squeezed Lemonade Distress, Mustard Seeds Distress, Spun Sugar Distress and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide. Lift up the stencil.
• Ink the sky with Shaded Lilac Distress and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks, keeping your hand very light towards the Sun.
• Tape layer #2 from Retro Sun & Palms Stencil with a removable tape and ink the palms with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide, Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide, Lucky Clover Distress, Memento Ivy Cottage dye inks; ink the seagulls with Black Soot Distress ink. Use small blending brushes for these areas.
• Lift up the stencil and the mask and flick some tiny droplets of a clear shimmer spray and a white gouache all across.
• Frame the inked scene with a scalloped rectangle from Frames & Flags Die Set.
• Stamp the sentiment from Beach Barks Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
• Arrange all the elements on the card front and glue them in place by popping some on a foam tape for fun dimensional look.
• Finish with a coat of Wink of Stella clear glitter pen and a couple of highlights added with a white gel pen.
